Temple is a Scottish village on the River South-Esk in Midlothian, lying south of Edinburgh. On the edge of the village is Rosebery House, built in 1805 for Archibald Primrose, the 4th Earl of Rosebery. Races were held in the grounds of the Estate on Saturday 2nd March 1839 when the Rosebery Sweepstakes was won by Solomon for Mr Millan. There are no further records of racing taking place in the vicinity of Rosebery.
